"Rugged" Tote Bag - Project Class - April 6 (10:30-2:30pm)

Make a tote you’ll use everywhere.

In this hands-on, 4-hour workshop, you’ll sew a rugged tote using a versatile multi-size pattern by "Green Pepper" Patterns. With four size options and customizable details, this project is perfect for beach days, market runs, school, overnight trips, or thoughtful handmade gifts.  Please note:  the pattern also comes with a portfolio pattern, but for the class, you will be using only the tote pattern.  

Choose your fabric combinations, add patches or embroidery, and make it uniquely yours. Each tote includes two exterior pockets, one interior zippered pocket, optional key holder, and two handle-length options — giving you both function and flexibility in one beautifully constructed bag.

• Twill

• Canvas

• Denim

• Other sturdy, "rugged" fabrics with some structure

Notions

• Polyester thread (coordinating and/or contrasting)

• Optional inside pocket:

  • 1/4 yard #5 coil zipper

  • One #5 coil zipper pull
    

Who This Class Is For

This class is ideal for confident beginners and up who:

• Know how to use a sewing machine independently

• Have completed at least one sewing project

• Want to build skills while making a highly functional item

What to Bring

• Sewing machine (in good working order)

• Basic sewing tools (scissors, pins, seam ripper, ruler)

• Fabric listed on the pattern

• 3 yards of webbing to use for the handles (this will insure you'll finish the bag in one class)

• Matching polyester thread
• NOTE: We will provide either a black or a white plastic-coiled zipper for your bag.  If you would like another color or type, please bring your own zipper.  

Policies:

Ages 16+ unless otherwise noted.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made by email. No refunds within 7 days of the first class. Instead, we may give you credit to use for future classes or for the fabric shop. Once the class has started, missed classes cannot be rescheduled or refunded, but we’ll do our best to help you catch up if possible.
