Frequently Asked Questions
GENERAL
Deadstock fabrics are leftover rolls from designers and garment manufacturers — beautiful, high-quality materials that would otherwise go to waste. We love giving them a second life! Because they’re limited in quantity, we can’t always reorder them, and occasionally they may have small flaws like faint marks or weave irregularities. We do our best to note or avoid these, but if something slips through, please let us know within 14 days of your order.
Yes! Our brick-and-mortar shop is located in Asheville, North Carolina, right below Sugarcane Studios, our custom sewing and alterations studio. You can browse fabrics in person, pick up online orders, and get inspired for your next project.
Yes! We’re planning to offer sewing and garment-making classes soon. Topics will range from beginner basics to small projects, to more advanced skills. Sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know when classes open!
Our long-running “Manic Mondays” tradition is coming to an end as we focus on launching our new website and brick-and-mortar shop. Don’t worry — the spirit of Manic Mondays will carry on as we will still load remnants onto the site weekly! Stay tuned through our newsletter and social media for updates.
Not yet, but this is coming soon!!!! We are waiting for our thread display to arrive, and once it does, this will be a service we offer. Stay tuned!
Not at this time. This is another service we hope to add in the future.
Every fabric is different! We include care suggestions some of the product pages, but as a general rule:
• Wash and dry your fabric the way you plan to care for the finished garment.
• Use gentle detergent and avoid bleach.
• When in doubt, test a small piece first — some natural fibers shrink or soften after washing.
Shipping
Absolutely! Choose Local Pickup at checkout. We’ll email you when your order is ready, and you can stop by during our open hours.
We ship orders as quickly as possible! Most orders leave our studio within 2–3 business days. If there’s ever a delay (for example, if we’re short on yardage or confirming a flaw), we’ll reach out right away to let you know your options.
You’ll receive an email with tracking information as soon as your package is on its way.
Shipping rates are flat rates:
$5.95 for orders up to $49.99
$9.95 from $50 to $99.99.
FREE for orders over $100
If you’re local to Asheville, you can always choose Free Local Pickup at checkout instead.
We ship all orders from our Asheville studio using USPS or UPS, depending on the size and destination. We always pack fabric carefully to keep it clean, protected, and crease-free.
We reuse packaging whenever possible to reduce waste — so don’t be surprised if your order arrives in a gently recycled box! Once shipped, you’ll receive a tracking number by email so you can follow your fabric’s journey to your door.
Returns
We want you to love your purchase. Every fabric is chosen and packed with care, but we are human. If we’ve missed a flaw or made an error, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your order. We’ll make it right with a replacement, refund, discount, or store credit, depending on the situation.
All purchases are final. Please contact us before you place your order if you have a concern about a color, weight, or texture of a fabric. We can often help guide your decisions before you order.
That said, if we’ve made a mistake on your order, or missed a noticeable flaw, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your order — we’ll make it right with a replacement, discount, store credit, or in limited cases, a refund.
Please note that we cannot accept returns on fabric that has been cut, washed, altered, or returned in unsellable condition (including fabric with pet hair, smoke, or other odors).
If you ever have an issue, just reach out. We handle each situation as it comes. Our goal is always happy, return customers — and beautiful projects.
