Dress/Skirt Hems - Skill-Building Class - March 20 (Mon 3:30-5:30)

Give your garments the finish they deserve. In this hands-on, skill-building class, you’ll get guided instruction on how to achieve clean, professional hem finishes— whether you’re finishing a handmade piece or altering something from your closet, you will be empowered to choose the type of hem best for the garment.  You will leave with samples of 3 types of hems you can use on your next project.  

What You’ll Learn

You will start with your instructor showing how to pin and then prep each type of hem before sewing to get a smooth, even line.  Then, 3 different hem techniques will be shown:

• Hemming lightweight fabrics (such as chiffon) using a narrow "ban-roll" technique

• Hand-sewing clean, nearly invisible hems with hem tape
  

• Learning how to blind-hem using a machine.  

Who This Class Is For

This class is ideal for confident beginners and up who:

• Know how to use a sewing machine

• Have some experience working with garments

• Want hands-on guidance for real-world hemming challenges

What to Bring

• Sewing machine (in good working order)

• Basic sewing tools (scissors, pins, seam ripper, ruler)

• A spool of Thread (any color)

• NOTE:  We will provide the fabric, hem tape, and ban-roll required for this class.

Ages 16+ unless otherwise noted.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made by email. No refunds within 7 days of the first class. Instead, we may give you credit to use for future classes. Once the class has started, missed classes cannot be rescheduled or refunded, but we’ll do our best to help you catch up if possible.
