Buttonholes - Skill-Building Class - April 6 (Mon 3:30-5:30)

Buttonholes don’t have to be intimidating. In this focused, hands-on class, you’ll learn how to confidently add buttonholes to your garments using your own sewing machine.

We’ll walk through your machine’s specific buttonhole options, talk through marking and testing, and then move directly into practice. By the end of class, you’ll not only understand the process — you’ll have real buttonholes sewn into your own garment.

What You’ll Learn

• How to identify and use the buttonhole settings on your specific sewing machine

• Proper marking and placement of buttonholes

• Testing buttonholes on scrap fabric before sewing on your garment

• Techniques for sewing clean, consistent buttonholes with confidence

Who This Class Is For

This class is ideal for confident beginners and up who:

• Know how to use a sewing machine

• Feel unsure or intimidated by buttonholes

• Want guided, real-world practice on an actual garment

What to Bring

• Sewing machine (in good working order, make sure to bring your buttonhole foot!)

• Your sewing machine’s instruction manual

• Basic sewing tools (scissors, pins, seam ripper, ruler, marking pen or chalk)

• A spool of thread

• A garment that is in need of buttonholes OR you can use our muslin to practice and make samples with.  

Policies:

Ages 16+ unless otherwise noted.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made by email. No refunds within 7 days of the first class. Instead, we may give you credit to use for future classes. Once the class has started, missed classes cannot be rescheduled or refunded, but we’ll do our best to help you catch up if possible.
