Beginner's Knitwear - February 2, 9, 16 (Mondays 3:30-5:30)

Beginner’s Knitwear will help new and intermediate sewists build confidence working with stretchy fabrics by sewing a t-shirt from start to finish.

In this hands-on course, you’ll learn how to cut knit fabric using a commercial pattern, how to sew with a serger and a sewing machine, finishing seams and hems professionally. We’ll use the Sew House Seven “Skyline Tee” pattern (available in standard and curvy size ranges). You’ll walk away from this class with a finished knit tee and the foundational skills to keep sewing comfy knit garments in many variations. 

Who is this class for?
This class is for intermediate sewists who are already confident with basic machine sewing and ready to tackle garments made from stretch fabrics.

Location:
This class takes place at Sugarcane Studios, our upstairs sewing studio located right above Sewing Studio Fabrics. There is an elevator in the center of the building next to Vapor World for easy access.

Supplies Needed:

• Sewing machine (with cord, pedal, and bobbin)

• Serger (with cord and pedal)

• Machine needles for knits/stretch fabrics

• One double needle for hemming

• 4 spools of thread (serger thread recommended)

• Fabric scissors

• Pins

• Pattern: Sew House Seven “Skyline Tee” (standard or curvy size range)

• Appropriate knit fabric & notions (as noted on the pattern)

Supplies can be purchased in-store or online at Sewing Studio Fabrics. If ordering online, please select in-store pickup and place your order at least 2 days before your first class. In-person shopping is available Wednesday–Saturday, 10 AM–4 PM. Students receive 10% off all class supplies; your discount code will be emailed upon registration and is valid through your final class.

Policies:

• Ages 16+ unless otherwise noted.

• Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made by email. No refunds within 7 days of the first class. Instead, we may give you credit to use for future classes. Once the class has started, missed classes cannot be rescheduled or refunded, but we’ll do our best to help you catch up if possible.

• Each class has limited space, so please register early to reserve your spot.
