Beginner Bootcamp - April 7-28 (3:30-5:30pm)

Beginner’s Boot Camp will help new sewists gain confidence by working through foundational projects designed to build your skills in garment sewing.

You’ll dive into garment construction by making pajama pants from the Closet Core Fran Pajamas pattern. You’ll learn to read a commercial sewing pattern, cut fabric, follow pattern instructions, and finish a project from start to finish—plus gain pressing and finishing tips along the way.

By the end of the course, you’ll walk away with a completed pair of pajama pants and the confidence to take on your next sewing project. We recommend following up with our Intermediate Garment Sewing class, which covers the pajama shirt from the same pattern.

Who is this class for?
This class is for beginner sewists who want to learn how to cut and sew basic garments using commercial sewing patterns. No previous garment sewing experience required. You should know how to thread and sew with your machine. If you need to learn this first, please register for the Sewing Machine Basics Class.

Location:
This class takes place at Sugarcane Studios, our upstairs sewing studio located right above Sewing Studio Fabrics. There is an elevator in the center of the building next to Vapor World for easy access.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

• Sewing machine (with cord and pedal, machine needles, and a bobbin)

• Tools:  Fabric scissors, Pins, seam ripper, tape measure and/or ruler
  

• Closet Core Fran Pajama pattern

• Appropriate woven fabric, notions, and thread for pajama pants (see back of pattern)

• NOTE:  If you plan to trace off the pattern instead of cutting it apart, please do that before the first class so that you are ready to layout and cut

All supplies can be purchased in-store or online at Sewing Studio Fabrics. In-person shopping is available Wednesday–Saturday, 10 AM–4 PM. Students receive a one-time 10% off code for all class supplies bought from Sewing Studio Fabrics. Please tell us you are a student at check-out.

• Ages 16+ unless otherwise noted.

• Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made by email. No refunds within 7 days of the first class. Instead, we may give you credit to use for future classes. Once the class has started, missed classes cannot be rescheduled or refunded, but we’ll do our best to help you catch up if possible.
