Sewing Machine Basics - May 4 (3:30-5:30)

Whether you’re brand new to sewing or just unsure how to use your machine to its fullest potential, this hands-on workshop will get you comfortable and confident.

In this 2-hour session, you’ll learn how to thread and operate your machine, adjust stitch settings, troubleshoot tension issues, and handle basic maintenance and cleaning. Bring any presser feet you’re curious about—we’ll walk through how and when to use them. You’ll also have a chance to ask questions and get personalized guidance.

Who is this class for?
This class is ideal for anyone who is unfamiliar with or intimidated by their sewing machine. It’s a great warm-up before joining our 4-week Beginner Boot Camp.

Location:
This class takes place at Sugarcane Studios, our upstairs sewing studio located right above Sewing Studio Fabrics. There is an elevator in the center of the building next to Vapor World for easy access.

Supplies Needed:

• Sewing machine (with cord and pedal, machine needle, and bobbin)

• Your machine's MANUAL!!!  (We cannot know the intricacies of every type of machine, so bring this in case we need to reference it to help you troubleshoot)

• Spool of thread

• Snips or scissors

• Notebook and/or phone to take videos

General Class Policies:

• Ages 16+ unless otherwise noted.

• Please note that we do not have the capacity in each class to spend ample time troubleshooting each student's machine.  If you have NEVER used or threaded your machine at all, or your machine has been giving you many problems, please schedule a one-on-one class instead so that you can spend a whole hour with our staff focused on you and your machine only.  We also cannot repair machines that have a mechanical issue.  Please ask us for references to mechanics if your machine needs mechanical help. 

• Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made by email. No refunds within 7 days of the first class. Instead, we may give you credit to use for future classes or the fabric store. Once the class has started, missed classes cannot be rescheduled or refunded, but we’ll do our best to help you catch up if possible.

• Each class has limited space, so please register early to reserve your spot.
