Content: 100% Italian Wool Challis
This is the fabric that will tie in with all the trendy mustard and pine fabric you've bought, AND will go just as lovely with your basic black. It is the wardrobe expander extraordinaire. All that, and it's wool challis, which is just such a malleable fabric. Wool challis is a more gossamer fabric compared to that of a rayon challis; it has more "float" to its drape. We love it for draped shawl-collar blouses and dresses, like the Sew Over It 40's Wrap, and boho-inspired looks like the True Bias Roscoe, but it also works exceptionally well in modern cuts such as the Wiksten Shift. Wool can get such a bad rap for being high maintenance, but wool challis fabrics are really such a joy. The official line on wool is to dry clean it, but some of us throw caution to the wind with wool challis fabrics and wash on cold & air or medium dry without much shrinkage. This is entirely at your own risk and does change the challis - it tends to "bloom" and become less transparent and more soft & fuzzy. If that is not a risk you're willing to take, and it IS a risk, then certainly dry cleaning is the safer option.
*Many fabrics in the Sewing Studio are "dead stock" fabrics from the fashion industry. Their content is not always 100% knowable, and re-stocking is rarely available. While we do our best to ensure fiber content transparency, we cannot guarantee it to be exact. We do source and purchase only what we feel to be of the highest quality for our customers. As always, please email with any questions or concerns.
