Seawool(R) is made from post-consumer oyster shells, which are crushed, mixed with plastic (PET) from recycled plastic bottles and spun into yarn which is naturally anti-static, anti-odor, anti-bacterial, quick drying, and soft to the touch. These are thick, squishy, and yarn-dyed with deep, saturated colors. Think of this melton as a woven version of fleece and better for the environment. It's warm, squishy, and thick. Make your dream "shacket" (shirt/jacket), maker jacket like the Ilford, or some pants like the Sew House 7 Free Range Slacks, the Untitled Thoughts Chandler Pants, or Seamwork Joss pants. Feel good about treating yourself and the earth with this scrumptious fabric.
*Many fabrics in the Sewing Studio are "deadstock" fabrics from the fashion industry, and fiber content is sometimes best educated guess. Sourcing in general is less predictable during COVID-19, and it's very rare to restock a deadstock fabric during normal circumstances. We source and purchase only what we feel to be of the highest quality for our customers. Due to setting fluctuations on monitors, photo color accuracy cannot be guaranteed.
