This is truly a unique crepe. First, the differentiation in the content. Viscose and rayon are often used as synonyms, but in this application we are saying the warp and weft are different variations; one being silkier in texture, the other slightly more course, creating a bit more texture to the crepe in this instance than your usual rayon crepe. It has this lovely crinkle, just enough to be extra, but not enough to make a difficult pressed seam. The little bit of extra texture works perfectly with the mid-sized sakura print (cherry blossom) in rose, soft blue, terra cotta and some muted chartreuse on a cream background. This fabric is one of those sleeper fabrics in that it goes with so much. Here we have it draped with a bright, spring pink modal knit for a light, sunny pairing, and in contrast also have it paired with an earthy rose wool boucle knit for all seasons wardrobe wear. This fabric in a Grainline Archer or a Camas Blouse would make an excellent wardrobe staple to be tied over a knit summer dress or paired with a boucle sweater and jeans. Many fabrics in the Sewing Studio are "deadstock" fabrics from the fashion industry, and fiber content is sometimes best educated guess. Sourcing in general is less predictable during COVID-19, and it's very rare to restock a deadstock fabric during normal circumstances. We source and purchase only what we feel to be of the highest quality for our customers. Due to setting fluctuations on monitors, photo color accuracy cannot be guaranteed.
